Karen Graham has worked as a Counsellor since 1996. At NorthStar Counselling she brings a sensitive, thoughtful approach to counselling and covers a variety of issues from past trauma to present crisis.

A member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Karen is committed to the Code of Ethics and Practice which ensure standards in counselling / psychotherapy.

Her formal qualifications include Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, M.I.A.C.P. Diploma in Counselling, H. Dip. Social Care and Social Practice, Dip. Parent Coaching, W.G. II Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (C.B.T.) and Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and a number of Post Dip Certifications including; Therapeutic Play, Couple Counselling and Relationship Counselling.

These accreditations help to assure you that Karen is appropriately qualified and works to recognised standards of professional competence.

Karen also participates informally in groups which provide support networks in the community such as those supporting mothers of children with autism. She also chairs a personal development group.

We all have our share of life’s challenges that impact ourselves and those around us. In Karen’s case her professional counselling experience has been enriched by personal experience of fostering, ME (chronic fatique syndrome), special needs and learning difficulties. She’s in a unique situation to be the “Someone In Your Corner”.

At NorthStar Counselling about 10% of Karen’s counselling work is at reduced rates to support those in special hardship circumstances. She also lends her professional counselling experience to the panel of survivors of clerical child abuse.
